Sheriff: Homicide investigation in Myrtle Creek, death 'suspicious'

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- Authorities are calling the death of a 57-year-old man in Myrtle Creek "suspicious."

On Sunday about 8:30 am, Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a deceased male at 139 Ulam Lane.

Deputies say the death was suspicious in nature.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was called out and is conducting a homicide investigation.

The Sheriff's office says an autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

The Sheriff's office says the name will not be released at this point, as the victim's family has not been notified.

The investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff's office said.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team consists of members of the District Attorney's Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Roseburg Police Department, Oregon State Police, and other local police agencies.
