Sheriff arrests Tenmile man on murder charge

TENMILE, Ore. -- Detectives have made an arrest in the "Tenmile homicide which was reported prior to noon Wednesday," Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

70-year-old Tenmile resident James Teddy Deramus was arrested and charged with fatally shooting 36-year-old Jonathan James Ackerman, also of Tenmile.

Next of kin has been notified, police said.

Deputies and detectives responded to the 100 block of Hidden Hill Lane Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call from a concerned citizen, authorities said.

Deramus was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of murder.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
