Seven vie for open Douglas Co. Commissioner seat in May primaries

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- There's a lot at stake for Oregon in the state's Republican and Democratic primaries. One of the big races in Douglas County is for the county commissioner position.

Current Douglas County Commissioner Joe Laurance is retiring at the end of the year, and there are seven people on the ballot now vying for his seat.

The position could be decided in the primary if any one candidate gets over fifty percent of the vote. Otherwise, the top two candidates will face off in November.

The positions of county assessor and county surveyor are two other contested races appearing on the Douglas County ballot.
