Senior group in Oregon takes on 'We Are Young'
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The residents of Stoneybrook Assisted Living Center are at it again.
First they made their own "Harlem Shake" video.
Now they've copied a commercial's crazy shenanigans set to the song "We Are Young" by the band Fun.
Activities coordinator Stephanie Deatherage said the seniors had so much fun with the first video that they kept asking her what they could do next.
Deatherage said that's when she saw a commercial for Taco Bell where senior citizens go around town acting young. She thought they could recreate something similar.
The seniors are seen stealing a bus, sneaking out to gamble, dancing at a bar, singing karaoke - even getting a tattoo.
Well, a temporary tattoo, at least.
The seniors said the song proves that they are always young. "It just means we are young. Young in mind most of us and body too. We just like to have fun. We're not dead yet" says resident Phyliss Derr.
Stoneybrook residents said they have a lot of fun with these videos and helps them to get out and interact with others.
"I think it's kind of funny. I'm kind of amazed I do things like this because I'm different than a lot of people" said Bob Beach, who has participated in both videos.
Deatherage said it's a great way for residents to show their families and friends that they're not just sitting in a home but out there learning new things and enjoying life.
