'Seek hard cover, concrete walls or any barrier like that'

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night has left nearly 60 people dead and more than 500 injured.

The gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

We talked with the Roseburg Police Dept. about what you can do in a mass shooting situation.

"Get away from the projectiles,” Roseburg Police Sgt. Gary Klopfenstein says, “seek hard cover, concrete walls or any barrier like that. And look for an exit and try and get out and get away.”

Police say those same rules apply if you're in an outside location.

As for helping others, he says to try to get yourself to safety first, but if you can help people without getting hurt, then do so.
