Seattle duo found with 44 lbs. of pot near Oregon/California border

MEDFORD, Ore. -- Troopers arrested two Seattle residents after finding nearly 44 pounds of marijuana in their car Friday night during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near the Oregon/California border.

A state trooper pulled over Jesse Tear, 39, of Seattle, for speeding just north of Medford at around 9:20 p.m. Friday.

During a subsequent investigation, state police officials said the trooper found three large garbage bags full of individually sealed packages of marijuana.

Police arrested Tear and her passenger, Patrick Haenelt II, 44, of Seattle, for unlawful possession and distribution of marijuana. They were lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

State officials said the marijuana weighed slightly over 44 pounds and has an estimated value of around $88,000.
