Roseburg Public Schools warns of potential school advertisement scam
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg Public Schools administrators are cautioning Douglas County business owners and managers that a company soliciting funds for school-related products or activities has no connection to the school district.
RPS Superintendent Gerry Washburn said a Roseburg business owner alerted an RPS assistant principal that she had been called by a company identifying itself as ASF.
The caller was soliciting funds to advertise on a sports poster.
In the course of checking with the school in question, the business owner learned the company was not part of a legitimate school fundraiser.
This was further confirmed when she forwarded an invoice for $199.99 to school officials, who said they had no contract with ASF.
Washburn said local businesses, agencies and nonprofit groups should be aware that the only outside company authorized to solicit funds in connection with RPS schools is Media All Stars, for projects related to Roseburg High School.
