Roseburg High gym construction in final stages
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- It's been a long process but school officials say the Roseburg High gymnasium is in the final stages of construction made possible by its seismic rehabilitation grant.
Roseburg Schools Superintendent Gerry Washburn says they're preparing the finishing touches.
The final stretch includes installing windows, heaters and lights, and applying paint.
Because of the prolonged construction many sports teams had to find other practice spaces.
"It's going to impact basketball practice," Washburn says. "We've got kids practicing at the Auxiliary Gym and Fremont; we'll have to play games at the community college. We're going to have to do all those things, but when it's done I think the community will have something to be really proud of."
Washburn says, like any other construction project, there have been delays. While they may be in the home stretch, there is no set completion date.
