Roseburg gearing up for another big fireworks show

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- America's birthday is a week away, and organizers of the Roseburg Hometown Fourth of July say they're right on track for another big fireworks show.

It takes about $1,000 a minute just to launch that many fireworks, and that figure doesn't include the entertainment or insurance charges.

The budget for this year's show is $30,000, and organizers say they've raised about $24,000 so far.

Val Ligon says it's a great way for families to spend the vacation. "It's a great family event, you can come down early, you've got food vendors there, so you don't really have to bring anything but your blanket."

The show is funded by donations.

The fireworks are set to start at 9:55 pm on July 4.
