Roseburg cop honored for DUII enforcement

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg police officer has been recognized as one of the best in the state for DUII enforcement.

Roseburg Police Officer Dave Lund was recently selected as the DUII Enforcement Officer of the Year for the State of Oregon.

Each year, the Oregon DUII Multi-Disciplinary Task Force selects a state trooper, deputy and a municipal officer to receive this award.

The award is not only based on DUII arrests and enforcement, but also takes into account the officer's involvement in the community to try and teach citizens about the dangers of DUII driving.

Officials with the Roseburg Police Department say that during the past year, Officer Lund worked on several projects and wrote grant requests to aid in implementing them.

Officer Lund received funding to purchase DUII pedal carts and impairment goggles, which will be used at community safety events to allow people to see the effects of impaired driving first hand.

Officer Lund also received a grant and developed several educational videos titled, "Top Ten Reasons to Get a DUII", that air prior to movies at local theaters.

During his patrol time, Officer Lund was also able to arrest over 85 DUII suspects during the past year.
