Rip City Relay in Coos Bay: 'The Trail Blazers are Oregon's team, not just Portland's'
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers rolled into the bay area this week.
Coos Bay was the first stop for the 5th Annual Trail Blazers Rip City Relay.
It promotes healthy and active living while engaging with the community.
Blazer fans got a chance to take pictures with the 1977 NBA championship trophy and win game tickets.
"Our goal is to go around the state of Oregon and let everybody know we know that the Trail Blazers are Oregon's team, not just Portland's,” Trail Blazers broadcaster Brooke Olzendam said, “so we want to make sure we're spreading the love, showing we understand that they support us even though they are four and a half hours away from downtown Portland."
The Rip City Relay crew was in Florence Tuesday and Newport on Wednesday.
