Primary election turnout low so far in Douglas County
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The May Primary Election is less than a week away and voter turnout is still low in Douglas County.
We checked in with the Douglas County Clerk Patty Hitt who says 21 percent of voters have returned a ballot as of Thursday.
That's about 15,000 ballots compared to 75,000 eligible voters.
She says there are some important races and issues for voters to weigh in on.
"We have the governor. we have federal office, we have a couple of state offices," Hitt said, "and then, depending on what area of the county you live in, there could be a measure on your ballot as well."
The county clerk says it's too late to mail in your ballot.
You have until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, to turn a ballot in at one of the county election drop boxes.
