Police: Winston man arrested for rape

WINSTON, Ore. -- A Winston man is behind bars, after police say he broke into a home and forcibly raped a woman early in the morning on New Year's Day.

Detective Sandi Koberstein of the Winston Police Department says that at about 2:00 a.m. on January 1, Donald G. Andrews, 41, entered a residence in the 100 block of Main Street through an unlocked door.

Koberstein says Andrews then forcibly raped and sodomized the 35-year-old female who lived there.

Authorities say the two were known to each other.

Andrews was arrested after an interview with detectives at around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, and was lodged in the Douglas County Jail.

Andrews is being charged by authorities with first degree rape and first degree sodomy.

His bail is set at $750,000.
