PORTLAND, Ore. -- A 16-year-old boy was stabbed inside the Lloyd Center Mall on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded and found the boy with stab wounds near the mall entrance by Nordstrom. The suspect ran away after the fight, Portland police said.
Jeta Nielsen was in the mall and saw the fight.
"I heard a bunch of yelling, and I went over to the side to look down and there was a bunch of teenagers yelling and making a big commotion. And then a kid on the ground with a puddle of blood coming off from his side," said Nielsen.
The stabbing appears to be gang related, police said.
Nielsen said it looked like there was at least 20 teens in the group when the boy was stabbed.
Police said the boy was treated at a hospital and released.
The suspect is described as an African American man in his 20s, wearing a black jacket, red T-shirt, black pants and white shoes.
