Police: Teen driving Honda Civic seriously injured in head-on crash with log truck
LYONS, Ore. - A 17-year-old driver suffered serious injuries Tuesday when his Honda Civic collided head on with a log truck, Oregon State Police said.
James Ismael Escobar Gunn of Lyons was westbound on Highway 226 in a 1998 Civic when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Kenworth log truck.
Escobar Gunn was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Investigators do not know why his car crossed the centerline.
The 52-year-old log truck driver from Stayton suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.
The crash investigation closed the highway for 2 1/2 hours before one lane opened to alternating traffic. The crash remains under investigation.
