Police: Mom crashed twice with kids in vehicle

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg police arrested a Roseburg area mother on several charges, including DUII, after they say she was involved in two accidents while her kids were in the vehicle.

Police say that just before 1:30 pm Wednesday, a woman driving a 2002 Dodge was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Garden Valley and Stewart Parkway.

Officers say the driver, later identified as Sarha Michelle Burky, 29, of Roseburg, fled the area heading west on Garden Valley.

Burky was then involved in a second crash on Garden Valley and Troost Street, police said.

Officers say they found signs of impairment during the investigation and arrested Burky without incident.

Burky had her two small children in the vehicle with her and they were released to a responsible adult, officers said.

Burky was cited and released from the Douglas County Jail, charged by police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, failure to perform the duties of a driver, reckless driving and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Roseburg police say there were no injuries in either of the crashes.
