Police: Man in stolen car tries to outrun cops, crashes instead
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is in jail, after police say he tried to outrun them in a stolen car.
Roseburg police officers say that on Friday afternoon, they spotted a car near the Roseburg Valley Mall that had been reported stolen to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off, leading police on a high speed chase out Garden Valley Road.
The driver, identified as Anthony Jerome Flores, 30, of Roseburg, lost control of the car near the intersection of Garden Valley and Del Rio Road.
The vehicle crashed and rolled into a field.
Flores was transported to Mercy Medical Center to be checked out, then taken to the Douglas County Jail.
Police charged Flores with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude police and reckless driving, among other charges.
Flores was lodged in the jail.
