Police: Man beat mom who wanted porch cleaned

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is behind bars after police say he beat up his mother when she asked him to clean up the porch.

Officers from the Roseburg Police Department were called to a residence in the 200 block of Lane Street at about 3:00 pm Monday, when a woman called to report her son had attacked her.

Officers say when they arrived, they learned that Dennis Andrew Croucher, 25, of Roseburg, had attacked his mother when she asked him to pick up cigarette butts that were on the front porch.

Authorities say Croucher choked her, head butted her and slammed her to the ground before she was able to get away and call for help.

Officers arrived, and with the assistance of K-9 Iago, they were able to find Croucher hiding in the home.

He was arrested without incident and charged by police with fourth degree assault, strangulation, menacing and harassment, among other charges. Officials say Croucher also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest charging a probation violation.

Officers say Croucher was lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
