Suspect Arrested for South & North Medford School Threat

MEDFORD, Ore. — UPDATE (12:37 p.m., 11/16/2017) The teen has been charged with disorderly conduct for inciting alarm in the public with the threats he made against North and South Medford High Schools.

"The charge was disorderly conduct because of public alarm that was created," Lt. Kerry Curtis, from Medford Police, said. "We don't believe there were any steps made towards the completion of this act; we don't believe he had the means possible to complete this act."

The teen is a student in the Medford School District and will be punished by MSD and the penal system.

UPDATE (6:09 a.m., 11/16/2017) Medford Police have lodged the suspect at JDH for disorderly conduct.

Investigations reveal the 15-year-old had no means available to act on these threats made.

The suspect also admitted he had no intent of carrying them out.

The District says school will operate as normal.

Medford Police are investigating a threat made to South and North Medford High Schools.

Police received a call of the potential threat before 7:00 p.m.

According to Medford School District, there have been 'shooting threats' made via social media and a school staff member had initially notified administration on Wednesday evening.

The District says school will be held on a normal schedule tomorrow with additional police presence on both high school campuses.

Various images have circulated on social media tonight of screenshots from 'Snapchat'.
