Police: felon had homemade shotgun

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg police arrested a man on New Year's Day, who they say was a felon in possession of two homemade guns.

Authorities say that just before 10:30 a.m., a Roseburg officer made a traffic stop in the 2500 block of NE Stephens Street and contacted Charles Steven Keeney, 56, of Roseburg.

Officers say that during a subsequent contact and search, two firearms were located.

Police say they appeared to be homemade, and one was found to be a shotgun with a short barrel, which is against Oregon law.

Keeney was arrested and charged by police with two counts each of being a felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a short barreled shotgun.

Police say he was also charged with a parole violation and lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
