SANTIAM JUNCTION, Ore. -- A Sutherlin woman lost her life in a crash Monday on Hwy 20 in Linn County, Oregon State Police said.

Around 10:04 a.m., OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on near milepost 75 at the Santiam Junction.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a green 2001 Toyota Tacoma driven by 33-year-old Salem resident Lucas Ettinger was eastbound on Hwy 20 at the Santiam Junction when a 1993 Ford F250 pickup driven by 57-year-old Willard Metzler II, and passenger Dana Metzler, 63, both of Sutherlin, was westbound and turned into the path of the Toyota, police said.

The Toyota collided with the Ford nearly head-on, the report said.

Dana Metzler suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The remaining occupants received minor injuries and were transported by third party for treatment of their injuries.

Hwy 20 was closed for about one hour following the crash. One lane was opened for two hours until both lanes were reopened.

OSP was assisted by the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Department, Black Butte Ranch Police Department and Oregon Department of Transportation.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when available.
