Over 80 people golf in Greater Douglas United Way's Dave Johnson Memorial tourney
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- It was a beautiful day for golf and that's what more than eighty people from the community did Thursday for the Greater Douglas United Way.
Roseburg Country Club hosted the 34th Annual Dave Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament.
Dave Johnson was an avid golfer and treasurer for the Greater Douglas United Way for more than 20 years.
"Kids that are in need and that are being abused, this steps in and the monies from the agencies step in and do some of that,” GDUW board member Barabara Johnson explained. “It's just got a broad base of need within the community and it tries to meet as much of that as we can."
The tournament featured a $50,000 cash price for a hole in one.
Last year the local United Way raised more than a million dollars to help those in need in Douglas County.
