OSP: I-5 speeder had almost 4 pounds of meth
MEDFORD, Ore. -- State police say a speeding driver on I-5 had almost 4 pounds of meth in his car.
On Sunday morning just before 1:30 am, an OSP trooper stopped a 2014 Acura passenger car displaying California license plates for a speed violation.
The trooper contacted the driver and identified him as as Erick Salvador Hernandez-Ruiz, 36, of Modesto, California.
Authorities say a subsequent investigation related to the traffic stop led the trooper to find about 3.8 pounds of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside the car.
State police say the meth is estimated to be worth about $55,000.
The man was was arrested without incident and lodged in the Jackson County Jail, charged by police with unlawful possession and distribution of methamphetamine.
The Jackson County Jail website also indicates an ICE hold is placed on him.
