Missing 73-year-old California man found safe, reunited with family
UPDATE: 73-year-old Richard Carpenter has been located and reunited with his family, police said.
An observant citizen recognized Carpenter as the missing person and called Keizer Police around 3:30 p.m. Monday (July 17).
Keizer Police officers responded to Burger King and made contact with Carpenter who was ultimately reunited with his family safely.
SALEM, Ore. -- Authorities are searching for a man who went missing after visiting family members in Marion County.
The sheriff's office says at 5 p.m. Saturday, Marion County deputies were alerted by family members that 73-year-old Richard Carpenter was missing.
Carpenter came to Salem Friday night to live with family and receive medical care.
At 8 a.m. Saturday, Carpenter left his residence in the 4000 block of Wyant Court NE and has not yet returned, police said.
"Carpenter has numerous health conditions and family is concerned for his safety," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
Carpenter is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, 100 pounds with gray hair, blue eyes and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black belt and an unknown-colored plaid shirt. He is driving a black 2008 Cadillac SRX with California license number 6BAN631.
