Man tells police he has gun outside credit union
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Washington man was arrested on Monday, after police say he was outside of a local credit union stabbing his backpack.
Officers were called to the Northwest Community Credit Union on Kline Street just before 2:00 pm, for a report of a suspicious male sitting outside the credit union.
A passer-by reported that the man, later identified as Brandon Austin Crane, 32, of Bellingham, Washington, appeared to be angry, and was reported to be stabbing his backpack with a butterfly style knife.
When officers arrived, they say Crane said he did not have a knife, but did have a gun.
Police say Crane was detained without incident, and during the investigation it was determined he did not have a gun, but did have the knife that had been reported.
Crane was charged with Disorderly Conduct and lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
