Level 2 evacuation notice issued in Douglas County due to wildfires; Hwy 138E could close
GLIDE, Ore. - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 2 evacuation notice for residents in the Moore Hill Lane community to be "Set" to leave at a moment's
"YOU MUST PREPARE TO LEAVE AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE," the sheriff's office said in a press release Friday afternoon. "This level indicates there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. Residents MAY have time to gather necessary items, but doing so is at their own risk."
Early in the day, the sheriff's office issued a Level 1 evacuation notice from Moore Hill Lane to the community of Dry Creek along Highway 138 East due to wildfires in the area.

The fires in the area may prompt the Oregon DOT to close Highway 138 about 13 miles east of Glide, the agency said.

"Smoke is causing poor visibility in the area so drive with caution," Oregon DOT said in a statement.
ODOT initially said variable message signs have been placed in the Steamboat-Dry Creek area east of Glide in case a closure is necessary due to fire or smoke.

Then the agency issued a correction, saying the road is not closed - yet. Be prepared for changing conditions.
The notices operate on a scale of Ready (Level 1), Set (Level 2) and GO! (Level 3).
The sheriff's office asked residents to be aware of the danger that exists in their area, and monitor emergency services websites and local media outlets for more information.
