CANNON BEACH, Ore. - A landslide closed Highway 101 on Friday.

The slide started just after noon Friday near Hug Point, about 4 miles south of Cannon Beach.

"At this time, the slide is covering only the northbound lane. However, there is enough material filtering down," the Oregon Department of Transportation said. "The southbound lane is closed for safety reasons. ODOT is making an assessment of the slide risks and clean up, and there is no time table for opening the road."

The highway was back open in both directions by 4:15 p.m.

To detour around the closure, travelers had to use OR 53 which connects Wheeler on U.S. 101 and U.S. 26. | CURRENT TRAFFIC
