Jury convicts man of assaulting 3-month-old son

ROSEBURG, Ore. - A jury convicted an Oakland man accused of injuring his 3-month-old son.

The jury found Jason Hogeland, 24, guilty of second degree assault, criminal mistreatment in the first degree and assault in the third degree.

Prosecutors said the injuries were sustained in September 2012.

Hogeland faces almost 6 years in prison.

Sentencing is set for July 25.

Paramedics were called to a home in Oakland in Septmber 2012 on a report of a sick 3-month-old baby.
When medical crews from Douglas County Fire District #2 arrived, officials say he was evaluated and transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

That's when police say that doctors discovered some "suspicious head trauma. The boy was flown to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.
