'It's unbelievable what they do with a chainsaw'
REEDSPORT, Ore. - The 15th annual Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Sculpting Championships wrapped up in Reedsport on Sunday.
Chainsaws roared for 4 days as carvers worked on one main piece while testing their speed on daily quick carve competitions.
In the end, Bob Jing's carving of an arc angel took first place in the pro division.
Christopher Sissons was promoted to a pro after winning the semi-pro division for his carving of a turle swimming through seaweed.
"To watch them make a creation of a 5- or 6- or 7-foot spruce log turn into some of the works of art, it's unbelievable what they do with a chainsaw," said Frank Barth, who co-chairs the event.
Barth said they had a great turn out this year, but they hope to make next year's competiton bigger and better.
