ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Oregon 'Shake-Out' was today, but aside from that, one hospital took some extra steps to make sure they were ready for any emergency.
Mercy Medical Center planned a mock disaster drill, where UCC nursing students acted as pretend patients.
The medical center says they want to make sure their staff is ready for anything. "The more we practice through exercise and drill, the more we're going to tap into our resources and be able to perform well in a real event, so, that's always the goal."
Staff used what's called an "evacu-slide" to escort mock patients down three flights of stairs.
The Roseburg Fire Department participated as well by using a stretch ladder to get to the third story in case they needed to pull people from the window.
