Health Dept.: 2 reports of pit bulls biting children this week

SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- Douglas County Environmental Health officials say there has been a second dog biting report this week in Sutherlin.

Officials are asking for help in locating another Pit Bull that they say bit a child in Sutherlin's Central Park Tuesday evening.

Douglas County Animal Control is looking for the dog, described as a female tan and white Pit Bull, approximately 50 pounds with a black collar.

Officials say that no other information is available at this time, and that the dog needs to be found for observation purposes only, as required by law.

Authorities say this is a separate incident from the one that occurred when another Pit Bull bit a child near East 2nd Avenue on Sunday at about 11:30 am.

Anyone with information about the dog or its owner should contact Douglas County Environmental Health at 541-440-3569 or Douglas County Animal Control at 541-440-4471.
