Group works to renovate 2 acres in Winston into commercial space, increase tourism
WINSTON, Ore. -- Tourism has become an important part of the economy in Oregon, and now a community group is working to increase tourism in the Winston area.
Our Winston Neighborhood is planning to work with the Winston Core Project for what is being called the Elephant's Walk.
It would renovate two acres of land in downtown Winston into retail and commercial space.
Organizers say the location has the potential to bring in tourists.
"We have the Wildlife Safari, we have this wonderful location on the way to the coast, and we believe that there's a lot of untapped tourism potential here in Winston," said Winston Core Projecrt, Inc. CFO Jennifer Mitchell.
The goal is to raise $350,000 for the project.
