Free meals for kids back this summer

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Learning doesn't stop once school is out, and neither does a child's need for good nutrition.

This summer, Roseburg Public Schools are providing free meals to children with their summer food service program.

Roseburg kids from 1-18 years of age will be able to get the free meals.

Garry Castaldi from UCAN says no child should have to go hungry. "It's sad when kids just want to have fun, they want to go out there and they don't want to have to worry about if they're going to go to sleep hungry or spend their days going hungry," he said.

Free breakfast and lunch will be available from June 17 through August 22 at Fir Grove, Rose and Sunnyslope elementary schools.

Free lunches will also be served at Redeemer's church.
