Police identify man in I-5 fatal rollover crash

[UPDATE] Police officers have released the name of the driver of the fatal rollover crash that closed the northbound I-5 near milepost 33 ramp in Central Point on Saturday night.

Grants Pass Department of Public Safety identified the driver of the 2000 BMW as 58-year-old Bruce Anthony Curtis of Grants Pass.

No further information is available at this time.


Oregon State Police was assisted on scene by a deputy medical examiner from the Central Point Police Department, Jackson County Fire District and the Oregon Department of Transportation. There are no photos available.

A fatal rollover crash closed the I-5 Exit 33 northbound ramp Saturday night.

Oregon State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash a few minutes before 6 p.m at the exit ramp in Central Point.

The driver of the vehicle, male, drove off of the ramp into the shoulder. The vehicle flipped over. The driver was pronounced deceased by medical personnel upon arrival.

OSP was contacted by three witnesses on the scene who say the driver was speeding. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.

The ramp is now reopen.
