Explosion in Oakland coffee shop seriously injures woman

OAKLAND, Ore. -- A Douglas County woman is now in a Portland hospital, after an explosion at an Oakland coffee shop.

It happened Monday just before 3:00 pm at the Hollow Coffee House on 1st and Maple.

Local police and fire agencies responded to a report of an unresponsive female in the business.

According to police, Marenda (Mandie) Duncan, 29, of Oakland, was handling a high pressured canister behind the counter when it exploded.

The incident caused the woman to sustain a severe head injury.

The victim was taken by Life Flight to a Portland area trauma hospital.

The coffee shop remained closed on Tuesday.
