ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Douglas County Special Election is Tuesday.

Time is running out for you to turn in your ballot.

The Douglas County Clerk's Office said 30 percent of voters have returned a ballot as of Friday.

County residents are voting on an extended levy for the North Douglas Fire Department and will also decide if the county government should be changed to a home rule charter.

Officials want to make sure each vote gets in on time.

"At this point, I would not recommend mailing them,” Douglas County Clerk Patricia Hitt said, “We can no longer mail a ballot out to someone."

You have until 8 p.m. Tuesday to turn a ballot into one of the county election drop boxes.
