Douglas County Sheriff's Office holds annual scenario-based training
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- In today's world, law enforcement is getting more training when it comes to active threats or shootings.
In Roseburg, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is holding its annual in-service training for deputies at Winchester Elementary School.
Deputies get to practice defensive tactics and scenario-based training.
Law enforcement officials say practicing to deal with an active threat or shooter is helpful.
"We all mentally think about what we would do, but to be able to physically go through scenarios is huge for us,” says DCSO’s Jessica Willoughby. “It unites us as a team and we're just even more effective that way."
Friday, we’re taking a closer look at the training to see how deputies prepare for an active shooter or threat.
