ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A couple of teams are heading to Washington from our area to help with the search in Snohomish County after the massive mudslide.
Two volunteer Douglas County Search and Rescue K9 teams are being sent to the area.
Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's office say that Washington officials have requested assistance from neighboring jurisdictions through the Oregon Emergency Management Office.
Both of the K9 teams from our area are certified in cadaver recovery.
The two teams left for Washington earlier today.
The official death toll from Washington's mudslide has increased to 27, with the Snohomish County medical examiner's office saying 19 victims have been positively identified.
That's up from 24 dead with 18 identified on Monday.
