Douglas County Fair kicks off in Roseburg
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Fairgoers from around the state are making their way to the Douglas County Fair in Roseburg for opening day Wednesday.
According to the fair director, the annual event has been around for more than 100 years.
Ticket sales show almost 50 percent of fairgoers are from outside of Douglas County, many from outside Oregon.
One woman is delaying her trip home to California to be at opening day.
She's originally from Douglas County and says Disneyland can't compete with her favorite childhood spot.
“We know the difference, and in Disneyland we're not going to see cows and goats and chickens and rabbits, or homemade pies or photographs," visitor Grace Farenbaugh says.
Trace Adkins performs Wednesday night, kicking off a weeklong lineup of main-stage artists.
