ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Douglas County Commission approved a $25,000 contribution to help start a mental health court.
This comes in addition to the $25,000 from Greater Oregon Behavioral Health and the $25,000 from the City of Roseburg.
Circuit Court Judge Randy Garrison proposed the request for the funds to the board of commissioners Wednesday morning.
He said that with this allocation he hopes to have it up and running in the next 60 days.
Garrison said the court will be patterned after drug court and would provide an alternative to dealing with the mentally ill through the justice system.
