Douglas Co. Public Health no longer has off-site flu shots

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County commissioners approved a resolution that returns all Public Health Authority programs to the state.

As a result, Douglas County Public Health will no longer offer give out flu-vaccinations outside of their offices.

Public health officials declined to comment on the resolution, however they did recommend the community instead seek vaccines through a private provider, employer or pharmacy.

With flu season right around the corner, local pharmacists are already stocking up on vaccines.

"We can't start giving flu vaccines until the protocols come out for the upcoming flu season, but that usually happens toward the end of August, maybe the middle of August or September at the latest," said Bi-Mart pharmacist Keith Phiefer.
