SALEM, Ore. -- A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy lost control of a patrol car, went across the Interstate 5 median and crashed into a concrete wall in Salem Sunday morning.
Officials said the deputy and a cadet ride-along responded just before 9 a.m. Sunday to help officers detain a felony assault suspect from Eugene in a field north of Salem.
The deputy pulled the marked patrol SUV into the northbound lanes and lost control on the wet pavement, sending the vehicle over the center median near milepost 258, Oregon State Police said.
The car traveled across the southbound lanes and hit a roadside wall and a sign before coming to a stop on the side of the road, officials said.
The deputy and cadet both received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Salem Hospital for treatment.
