Deputies on assault investigation: 'The bed was covered in blood'
COQUILLE, Ore. - A 60-year-old woman faces accusations she attacked her boyfriend with a knife after confronting him with claims he was cheating on her, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said.
Debbie Leon was booked on a charge of Assault in the First Degree, the sheriff's office said. Bail was set at $500,000.
Deputies and Coquille Police officers responded to Little Valley Trailer Park around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a report of dispute.
They found Leon with blood on her clothing and a wound on her hand, the sheriff's office said.
They also found Fernando Sandez with cuts on his neck and arm.
"Fernando told deputies he was laying in bed when Debbie confronted him about cheating on her," the sherifff's office said in a report. "Fernando said the claims were false and Debbie attacked him with a kitchen knife."
Medics took him to Coquille Valley Hospital for treatment.
"Deputies searched the trailer with Fernando’s consent and located the knife used in the assault," the sheriff's office report says. "Deputies discovered the bed was covered in blood and there was blood smears and drops throughout the trailer."
Leon told deputies that Sandez assault her first - but was unable to explain his knife wounds, the sheriff's office said.
Leon was treated at the hospital before being booked into jail.
