Deputies: Drunk driver crashes into moving train

MARION COUNTY, Ore. - Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who they said was drunk when he crashed his car into a moving train in Marion County early Saturday morning.

The train dragged the car about 300 feet and caused it to catch fire, deputies said.

The driver, 24-year-old Kyle Randall, got out of the car and began knocking on doors in the area and asking for a place to sleep. That's when a neighbor called the sheriff's office, deputies said.

The crash happened in the 2900 block of Wintel Road Southeast at 5 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies said they noticed a plume of smoke in the distance when they arrived in the area. The smoke was coming from Randall's burned car.

Randall, who was not hurt in the crash, had a blood alcohol level at more than twice the legal limit, the sheriff's office said. Deputies arrested him for DUII and took him to the Marion County Jail.
