Man shoots coyote after bite, coyote then tests positive for rabies
MARION COUNTY, Ore. —
Marion County officials say a coyote who bit a man earlier this week has tested positive for rabies.
The man was bitten at a Gervais-area farm, and he and an acquaintance shot the coyote afterwards. The coyote was picked up by Marion County Environmental Health staffers, who say it tested positive for rabies.
Only three coyotes have tested positive for rabies in Oregon in the past 10 years.
You should stay away from feeding or approaching wild animals.
