Couple accused of mistreating man with Down syndrome
TILLER, Ore. - A couple is in jail after the sheriff's office says they abused a man with Down syndrome.
Detectives notified state adult protective services after a 48-year-old man with down syndrome was brought to a Medford hospital with extensive bruising, sores and weight loss.
Medical professionals determined his injuries to have been intentionally caused, the sheriff's office said.
The victim's primary caretakers were his brother Joseph Crumpton and Crumpton's girlfriend, Ginger Gramberg.
After a month long investigation, deputies arrested Crumpton and Gramberg on multiple counts of first degree criminal mistreatment.
