Coos County man found laying in street with gunshot wound to the neck
COOS COUNTY, Ore. - At approximately 5:28 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Coos County Sheriff's Office received several 911 calls indicating that a person had been shot on the road in the 400 block of Third Avenue in the City of Powers, Oregon.
Medical personnel responded to find a 30-year-old Powers resident, identified as Emilio Pina, laying in the street with a gun shot wound to the left neck/shoulder area. He was subsequently transported to Bay Area Hospital, where he currently is in the intensive care unit in serious condition, though he is expected to survive.
Numerous persons have been interviewed regarding the incident, including several eye witnesses to the shooting. Police have identified the person who reportedly shot Mr. Pina, but are not prepared to release his name at this time.
The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has been located and seized by police, and no arrests have been made at this time.
The case remains under investigation, and will be presented to the grand jury in the near future.
