Cancer Center director passes torch for new year
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- After 12 years as executive director of the Community Cancer Center, Mel Cheney is passing the torch.
December 31, 2013 will be Cheney's last day on the job.
After a nation-wide search, the board of directors for the cancer center has decided to fill Cheney's shoes from within. "My replacement is going to be Tammy Hagedorn, and she is serving currently as our Director of Clinical Services," said Cheney. "Tammy has been here for 14 years, so she's very familiar with everyone in the organization."
Cheney says hiring from within will make for a smooth transition.
Hagedorn starts her new job on January 1.
