Blue Zones Project Umpqua launches 'Walking Moai' event
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A community organization in Douglas County is aiming to get people up and moving throughout the area.
Blue Zones Project Umpqua is launching a Walking Moai event.
People will pair up in groups of five to 12 and walk one-to-two times per week over a 10-week course.
Event organizers say they hope people will walk away with healthier lifestyles.
"If we have friends that support the things that we're doing, we can actually sustain new things that we want to incorporate into our health plans or our well-being plans," said Juliete Palenshus with Blue Zones Project Umpqua.
The Walking Moai event is set for 11 a.m. this Saturday at the Roseburg YMCA.
