Blue Zones Project-Umpqua in full swing, kickoff event coming in December
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- An effort to raise the health level in Douglas County is in full swing thanks to a new well-being initiative called the Blue Zones Project.
Douglas County is currently ranked 31st out of 36 counties in Oregon for health according to this year's Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Report.
But the Blue Zones Project-Umpqua team wants to help the community get started on living fuller and longer lives.
"Make it so it's not so difficult to start making those choices toward greater longevity and well-being that I think we could really make some progress in our community toward more vibrancy, greater health," said Juliete Palenshus with Blue Zones Project-Umpqua.
If you want to learn more about this healthy living initiative, the Blue Zones Project is holding kickoff event on Monday, December 11, at Umpqua Community College.
